You do not need a referral to see a Clinical Psychologist, however you are entitled to a rebate from Medicare if you are referred by your GP, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician under a Mental Health Care Plan for the treatment of certain conditions. For clients who have been referred by their GP, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician under a Mental Health Care Plan, a Medicare rebate of $124.50 per session can be claimed for up to 10 sessions in a calendar year. Since our current fee is $190 for a 50-60 minute session, the out-of-pocket expense is $64.50 per session with the Medicare rebate. Please refer to the Medicare Rebates For Mental Health Services Fact Sheet for further information about Clinical Psychology services through Medicare
The current fee recommended by the Australian Psychological Society for a 46-60 minute session is $251, however our fee of $190 for 50-60 minute session is significantly lower than what is recommended to ensure that our specialist psychological service at Be Here Now Psychology is more accessible.
If you do not have a GP referral, you may also be able to access a rebate if you have private health insurance, however the rebate amount varies across private health funds, therefore, it is best to enquire about your entitlements with your health fund.
Medicare or private health fund rebates can be processed immediately following your consultation at the practice.
Whilst this is not a bulk-billing practice, bulk billing may be made available to pensioners or concession-card holders or those experiencing extreme financial hardship at the discretion of the practitioner. We may also consider reducing the fee to a lower rate if you are experiencing financial hardship, however please discuss this with us before booking your appointment.
